SHARE GODS LOVE

HAPPY LATE VALENTINES EVERYBODY! Now I know valentine’s day gets a bad rap. People hate it because it’s all about sappy couples and romantics. Personally though I love it! It’s a day to celebrate love! It doesn’t just have to be about romantic love. It’s a day to celebrate loving your friends and family. It’s a day to celebrate your favorite food or favorite book. One of my friends even gave me a little valentines card that I keep in my car now.

But most importantly it’s a day to celebrate Gods love for us!

Gods love is so incomprehensible to us. Our minds cannot wrap around how huge He is. 1 John 4 speaks of how God is love. Not only does God embody the perfect example of how to love, He is what love is.

Psalm 136: 1-3 has one repeating phrase. “His faithful love endures forever”.

This month I decided to read the book of Acts. There’s 28 chapters and 28 days in February so I thought it lined up perfectly. Looking back on my notes I came across Chapter 8. In giant all caps letters I have YOU CANNOT BUY GODS LOVE highlighted in bright pink. Now I know that literally trying to buy you’re way into Heaven hasn’t been a thing since the Protestant Reformation but I think sometimes we find other ways to try and “buy” our way in. We feel as though one slip up and God won’t want anything to do with us anymore and I can so confidently say this could not be any further from the truth. He loves us so unconditionally. He made us FOR HIM. He made us perfectly and in his eyes. That’s the beautiful thing about serving a merciful Jesus. No matter how far we stray, no matter how bad we mess up, no matter how bad we think we are HE. LOVES. US.

Valentines is the perfect time to take the example of Gods love for us and spread it. In Acts 8: 26-40 Philip preaches to a man who has never been exposed to the Word of Jesus before. After hearing the message the man so eagerly wants to become baptized. Be like Philip. Introduce people to Gods love. See how their life can be so changed by having the Lord in it.

So I leave you with these last words of encouragement. Acts 9: 28 “So he stayed with them preaching all around boldly in the name of the Lord”.
